Technical meetings have been arranged, with field professionals working in the area of ​​Renewable Energy (RE), Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution (PGTD) and Information & Communication Technology (ICT) along with Concerned policy makers, to discuss all the technical aspects of Smart Grid Technology and its Implementation challenges in the Caribbean Region. An operating network has been established in Trinidad & Tobago and in other Caribbean countries.

Group Meeting With All Stakeholders

  • We organized our 3rd Stakeholders Consultation meeting of the UWI Smart Grid Project, on 21st March 2016 from 1pm to 2pm at Life Sciences Conference Room, Natural Science Building, the UWI St. Augustine campus. Representatives from Ministry of Education, NIHERST, CARIRI, BG T & T, IEEE T & T, RDI Fund and researchers from the UWI participated in the consultation. Updates on the project were provided by the team leader Dr. Davinder Pal Sharma. He also provided information on upcoming activities of the project i.e. Public Survey, Training Program and Recommendation for the Green Paper. Proposals for above said activities were discussed with all the stakeholders to seek their help in promoting and organizing the activities.   • We organized our 2nd stakeholders meeting on 12th June, 2015 at the UWI St. Augustine Campus. The aim of the meeting was to Further Strengthen our Smart Grid network and to get updates on the smart grid initiatives from individual stakeholders Involved in the educational sector. Representative from the MOE (6), the MOE & EA (1), the National Institute of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (NIHERST) (2), BG T & T (1) Regulated Industries Commission (RIC) (1 ), RDI Fund (1) Industry (2) and researchers from the UWI (5) were present in the meeting. We presented updates on our smart grid related work and our each stakeholder also presented Their initiatives in the area related to the smart grid.   • We have organized the First Group Meeting of our project with field professionals and researchers working in the area of Renewable Energy; Power Generation, Transmission & Distribution and Information Communication Technology along with Concerned policy makers on May 7th, 2014 at Faculty Board Room, Faculty of Engineering, UWI during 9.00am to 12.00pm. Meeting was attended by 22 delegates Including representative from the Ministry of Energy and Energy Affairs (2), Ministry of Education (1), T & TEC (5), TATT (1) Cariri (1), TTREN (1), NIHERST ( 1) RDI Fund Secretariat (1) and Concerned researchers from UWI (8) and UTT (1).
